Sycamore is starting to become popular wood for use as knife handle materials. When cut correctly Sycamore can show off rays and flecks that look a lot like snakeskin. Sycamore is normally not hard enough to be used without stabilization. In addition to the added hardness we have found the wood is easier to finish, more durable and the figure stands out more boldly when stabilized.
